Frequently Asked Questions
AirGuide is a web app that helps you navigate airports from curb to gate. It pulls live flight data from FlightAware, shows crowdsourced TSA wait times, and walks you through each step of the airport process with timed guidance and voice narration. No app store download required — it runs in your browser.
No. AirGuide works without an account. Your selected airport and preferences are saved locally in your browser. If you want to receive gate change notifications, you'll be prompted to allow browser notifications — no login required.
AirGuide currently has detailed support for BWI, ORD, ATL, DFW, MIA, DEN, and SEA. Live flight data from FlightAware is available at hundreds of additional airports. Indoor BLE navigation is coming soon — contact us if you'd like your airport prioritized.
Flight data is sourced from the FlightAware AeroAPI — one of the most reliable real-time aviation data feeds in the world. Departure boards are refreshed when you select an airport. Data is typically 1–3 minutes behind real-time.
Try refreshing the page and re-selecting your airport. Very late-night or early-morning departures may appear in the next day's schedule. If your flight still doesn't appear, it may be a charter, private, or regional commuter flight not covered by the standard departures feed. Email us at [email protected] and we'll look into it.
TSA wait times are crowdsourced from other AirGuide users who have recently passed through security. The more users report, the more accurate the estimates. You're prompted to submit your own wait time when you arrive at the airport — your contribution helps everyone else. Times are marked with how recently they were submitted.
The walkthrough guides you step by step through the entire airport process: arriving, checking bags, clearing security, finding your gate, and boarding. Each step has a time estimate. You can tap the speaker icon to have the steps read aloud. The walkthrough adapts to your specific airport.
BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) indoor navigation uses small beacons installed throughout the terminal to pinpoint your location to within 2 meters — no GPS needed. It will provide turn-by-turn directions to your gate, nearest restroom, or TSA checkpoint. We're currently in partnership discussions with airports. Join the waitlist on the homepage to be notified at launch.
When you allow browser notifications and subscribe to a flight, AirGuide monitors for gate changes, delays, and boarding calls. Alerts are delivered as push notifications so you'll know even if the app isn't open in your browser. You can manage notification permissions in your browser settings at any time.
AirGuide is a Progressive Web App (PWA) and caches core assets for offline use. The walkthrough steps, airport maps, and your last-loaded flight board will remain accessible without a connection. Live flight updates and TSA times require an internet connection.
Airport proximity detection requires you to allow location access in your browser. If you denied permission previously, go to your browser's site settings and re-enable location for this site. The feature only activates when you're within 8km of a supported airport.
AirGuide uses your browser's built-in text-to-speech voices and prioritizes the most natural-sounding voices available on your device (Google UK English Female, Microsoft Libby/Sonia, or Samantha on macOS). If the voice sounds robotic, try installing additional text-to-speech voices through your operating system's settings, or try a different browser like Chrome.
If the live flight board shows an error, the app automatically falls back to demo data so you can still explore the walkthrough and other features. The error is usually temporary — try refreshing in a minute. If it persists, email us at [email protected] with your airport code and the time you saw the error.
